Founded in 1994, Club Latinoamericano has united people from North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. Cultural and educational events have emphasized the similarities and diversities of these cultures, giving all the opportunity to know each other better.
The foundation of Club Latinoamericano traces its roots back to 1992 at social gatherings of eight women from different Latin-American countries such as Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Peru. They shared their cultures at each other’s houses during their weekly potluck meetings. Shortly after, people from other Latin-American countries joined them in their adventure to form the Club Latinoamericano del Valle Central. In 1994 the first Celebration of the Americas took place in Fresno during a gala night with a Flag Parade in which representatives of twenty-two countries parade their flags wearing traditional folkclore attire.
Club Latinoamericano is a cultural and educational non-profit organization whose purpose is contribute to the enrichment of our community by expanding the understanding of Latino cultural diversity through education, literature, art, music, and performing arts.
